1657-Bohdan Khmelnytsky dies-the Kozak Hetmanate was fully absorbed into the Russian Empire
1657-1659-Muscovy works to undermine Hetman Ivan Vyhovskiy
1659 A new Treaty of Pereyaslav, now with Yuriy Khmelnytskiy-Kozaks are forbidden to re-elect the Hetman
1663 and 1665-Hetman Briuhovetskiy signs Baturyn and Moscow Articles-granting Moscow the right to place garrisons in all major cities of the Kozak Hetmanate.
1667-Muscovy and Rzech Pospolita sign the Truce of Andrusovo-Left&Right Banks of Dipro
1669-After a massive rebellion, Moscow realizes that it had tried to incorporate the Kozak Hetmanate far too fast while the Truce of Andrusovo had split Ukraine's territory, a risky step.
The Hlukhiv Articles signed by Hetman Demian Mnohohrishniy restored some of the rights of the Hetman administration.
1672-Newly-elected Hetman Samoilovych signs the Konotop Articles.
They officialy negotiate the status of the Hetmanate & Zaporozhian Host with other states without any Kozak representation.
1686-Moscow and Warsaw sign the Treaty of Perpetual Peace-an agreement to finally break up the Hetmanate.The Ukrainian Church loses independence.
1687-Hetman Ivan Mazepa signs the Kolomak Articles-these articles focus on abolishing national differentiation of Ukrainians by encouraging marragies between "the Little and Great Russian people."

1708-The sack of Baturyn-the Moscovite army penetrated the fortified town of Baturyn and slaughtered 15,000 civilians living there.
1709-The Battle of Poltava-The defeat of Mazepa and the Swedes in the 1709 brought end to The Ukrainian brotherhood project.
1720-1750-Slow destruction and russification-The Ottoman Porte was the major opponent of the Russian Empire, meaning that the timing was not right for a 'final solution' in the Ukrainian question.
1764-65-Catherine 'unflies' Ukraine-Ukraine had finally been turned into an ordinary Russian guberny.
1775-The Sich is abolished-The incorporation of Ukraine into the Russian imperial body was thus conducted in all spheres.
1786-Second Little Russian Collegium is disbanded-having served its purpose in ultimately destroying the remnants of Ukrainian independence.

By the end of the 18th century, no signs of differentiation between Ukrainian and Russian territory remainded. And yet, no one step in this process had been seen ar the ultimate capitulation.
